Indeed I do – in fact, it is one of my favourite things to be able to show how wellbeing can be integrated into your whole day, and isn’t something to be done before or after work.
The practices we use in an occupational setting are appropriate for the corporate environment, which means we can do them in a conference room, in our work clothes, and without getting sweaty. I can also deliver them online for the mobile or working-from-home workforce.
I teach you how to integrate simple physical movements with powerful awareness techniques, to access a growing state of self-awareness and calm. We also practice straightforward meditation techniques with an emphasis on integration of the benefits in the workplace.
No, it's not. Merry Therapy for individuals is personalised movement, breathing and meditation therapy, specific to your needs. I use mindfulness-based counselling to understand your unique situation, and then work with you to make meaningful changes in your life holistically.
Yoga and meditation classes (at studios and online) can be wonderful resources and in some situations, I may recommend you attend a specific type of class as part of your ongoing therapy.
The key difference is that I expect and empower you to keep up with the inner work in between our sessions.
For an example of how Merry Therapy works, you can read the case study of my own life here.
Self-understanding is a lifelong process, but this isn’t a bad thing – it’s actually a fascinating and rewarding ongoing process. Sure, it may be uncomfortable at times, but empowering.
My goal is to help you help yourself, and in the beginning, it helps to have someone point you in the right direction – over time, you will gain the confidence to continue on your own.
A Yoga Therapist is a yoga teacher who has at least two years of further postgraduate training in the appropriate application of the teachings of yoga in a therapeutic context to support a consistent practice that will increase self-awareness and engage the client/student’s energy in the direction of desired goals.
As one-on-one Merry Therapy is holistic, I do need to understand you as a whole person and that includes your interactions with other health practitioners such as GPs, psychologists, naturopaths etc as well as your lifestyle and nutrition. That helps me understand your complete picture.
